Vegans Who Feed Carnivorous Pets Vegan Diets: Brilliant Innovators or Psycho Wackjobs?

It's one thing to take stock of one's own diet and make the eco-conscious choice, but to thrust that same choice on helpless animals is a leap of logic that few dare to make. Are these guys brilliant or crazy??

Props to abe for being

Props to abe for being conscious and awake! (: Good points.

Definately not wackjobs

Though I am not a vegan, I understand where they're coming from, and its more than proving a point about killing animals. Livestock bred on an industrial scale are not only treated inhumanely, often couped up for most of their lives standing in pools of their own waste (traces of which find their way into our food), but are also fed hormones, protein supplements sometimes made from their fellow animals, which helps spread sicknesses like Mad Cow's disease, as well as an array of antibiotics (read The Omnivores Dilemma by Michael Pollan for more on this). Its not natural for us, or our pets, to be vegan, but what we call meat these days is also not natural or healthy. Since pet food is probably of an even lower quality than what is allowed for human consumption, I can understand those concerned about their pets buying them vegan food.

Vegans are idiots

Vegans are idiots anyway. Altering your diet because of dietary concerns is one thing, but consciously choosing a less healthy diet simply to try to prove a point about killing animals is just asinine. It's going against nature. So it's no surprise to me that these morons would do it to their cats, too.
